BBC Sportsound pundit blown away by what ‘wonderful’ John Lundstram did for Rangers v Hibernian

Kenny Miller was blown away by Rangers midfielder John Lundstram after he completed a “wonderful pass” during the Gers’ Scottish Premiership clash with Hibernian.

Philippe Clement’s side returned to league action with a 3-0 win at Easter Road on Wednesday (24 January) thanks to goals from Ridvan Yilmaz, Todd Cantwell and Cyriel Dessers to close the gap to Celtic to only five points.

While Yilmaz and Cantwell’s goals stole a majority of the plaudits, Miller was just as impressed by Lundstram’s ball over the top of the Hibs backline to pick out the Gers’ left back.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound (24 January, 20:23) he said: “It’s a great run from Yilmaz, out to in, and a wonderful pass from Lundstram.”

Moments of magic

He has perhaps gone under the radar since Clement arrived at Ibrox, but there have been few players who have been more consistent performers for Rangers this season than Lundstram.

The Englishman has turned up and played a key role week in and week out in the Belgian’s midfield, getting incredibly stuck in, out of possession and producing moments of real quality when the ball is at his feet and that was the case again on Wednesday.

His ball to pick out Yilmaz in the first half was absolutely sublime and while the Turkish international’s finish was just as impressive as he caught the strike excellently, it was made a lot easier because of the sheer quality of the ball into his path.

Hopefully the 29-year-old can remain fit and available for the remainder of the season as he could well have a key role to play as the Gers look to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Premiership this season.
