BBC Sport journalist blown away by ‘stunning’ John Lundstram moment in Rangers 3-0 win v Hibs

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram produced a “stunning” assist for defender Ridvan Yilmaz in the 3-0 win against Hibernian.

That is according to BBC Sport journalist Nick McPheat, who shared the verdict after the Scottish Premiership clash on Wednesday (24 January).

The visitors emerged victorious from Easter Road, with midfielder Todd Cantwell and striker Cyriel Dessers also on the scoresheet.

“The Rangers midfielder dictated the majority of the contest by registering 100 touches – one of which provided a stunning assist for the opener,” McPheat wrote for BBC Sport, naming Lundstram as his Player of the Match.

Easy win

It was an easy victory at the end of the day for the Gers, who produced a very professional display at both ends of the pitch.

Philippe Clement would have been feeling the pressure going into the match in Edinburgh as the Ibrox side continue their pursuit of fierce rivals Celtic in the league.

But it was a routine win, kicked off by a superb goal from Yilmaz after a delicate through ball from his teammate Lundstram.

Cantwell then fired in a fantastic second, with Dessers putting the icing on the cake with a great finish after a defensive mistake from the hosts.

The victory means Rangers have cut Celtic’s lead at the top of the table to five points, with the former still having a game in hand over the latter.

Rangers

Hibs meanwhile sit in sixth place, with manager Nick Montgomery set to be very disappointed with the performance and result on home soil.

In other Rangers news, one exit-linked Gers man is surely set for an Ibrox stay after what happened recently with his manager Clement.
