Rangers want Anass Salah-Eddine loan as Ajax transfer news drops – Fabrizio Romano
Rangers are among clubs involved in a race to sign Ajax left-back Anass Salah-Eddine in the final days of the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer journalist reported via his X account that Ajax are now prepared to sanction a loan deal for their young defender before the window closes.
Rangers were named alongside Serie A side Torino as interested clubs, but Romano shared that several clubs have shown interest, and nothing has been agreed yet.
A priority signing at Ibrox
Salah-Eddine has played 10 games so far this season in the Eerste Divisie with Jong Ajax, picking up a goal and two assists, and has also appeared six times for the senior side. Now that he is available on loan, Gers would be silly not to make an offer.
Left-back has been a key focus for Rangers in the January transfer window, with Ridvan Yilmaz expected to leave the club before the end of the month amid interest from both Galatasaray and Hellas Verona who are battling for his signature.
As things stand, it seems Galatasaray have moved ahead in the race, with reports suggesting Yilmaz has already agreed terms over a deal, with just the fee left to be agreed between the clubs.
Borna Barisic is also expected to leave Rangers at the end of the season when his contract expires, which is part of the reason it would make sense for the Ibrox club to target younger options for the left-back position, although a loan move would be a short-term fix.
