Rangers transfer news: Galatasaray talks update emerges as Ridvan Yilmaz closes in on exit

Galatasaray are in the final stages of their negotiations with Rangers over the transfer of Ridvan Yilmaz, according to Haber Turk.

The Turkish media outlet reported on 24 January that the transfer saga for the left-back is nearing an end – a happy one for Galatasaray.

Gers have set a valuation of £5.1million for the 22-year-old and he’s expected to follow Sam Lammers out of the door this month, who’s already sealed a loan exit to Utrecht.

Good deal?

The potential transfer of Yilmaz to Galatasaray could be beneficial for Rangers as it addresses a situation where Yılmaz struggled to replace Borna Barisic as the first-choice left-back.

With Galatasaray actively pursuing Yilmaz, Rangers have an opportunity to recoup a significant portion of the investment made in acquiring him

If the transfer fee negotiation between Galatasaray and Rangers is successful, Gers will receive an influx of funds, hopefully amounting to £5.1million.

This financial gain could then be strategically utilised by Rangers to sign a quality replacement for the left-back position, potentially addressing the void left by Yilmaz .

Aiming to secure a reliable and skilled replacement for Barisic’s role could strengthen Rangers defensively and enhance their overall squad depth, ensuring they maintain a competitive edge in their league and other competitions.

The window is nearly coming to an end and Gers cannot be wasting more of their time without securing a replacement right away as Yilmaz seems days away from an exit.

In other Rangers news, clubs have now made contact with Gers as another first-team player appears set to be leaving the club soon.
