Four Lads: Rangers star Abdallah Sima may not play again at Ibrox after fresh injury update
Stevie Clifford has insisted that Rangers may not see Abdallah Sima again this season if his injury is as bad as first feared at the African Cup of Nations.
The host of the Four Lads Had A Dream podcast claimed that if Sima misses three months with the injury, and then begins his rehab at the start of May, it could be too late in the season to see him in a Rangers shirt again.
With his loan spell set to end at the end of the current season, there have been questions about whether he could return to Brighton already, and Clifford claimed they could take that path.
Clifford was speaking to The Rangers Review [24 January] as he shared: “If this is as bad as it might be with a three-month absence, you’re looking at him being out until the end of April, then his rehab begins, then we’re a couple of weeks into May. Unfortunately, we might not see Abdallah Sima again, certainly not this season.
“I would imagine that if it’s a worst-case scenario, Brighton might think ‘Let’s get him back.'”
Keep your fingers crossed
Of course, what Clifford is suggesting would be a worst-case scenario with regard to Sima’s injury. Even with that three-month time scale which would see him return at the end of April, he could still feature before the end of the season which ends on 19 May.
Plenty at Ibrox will have their fingers crossed that we have not seen the last of Sima in the Blue shirt at Ibrox, whether that be this season during his loan move or in any future deal with Brighton.
There has also been speculation that Sima may wish to remain at Ibrox on a permanent deal at the end of the season after his agent claimed he was happy in Glasgow, but whether anything comes from that will be a matter for the end of his loan deal.

The likelihood as things stand is that he will remain at Ibrox to be treated by Rangers’ staff, but should Brighton opt to recall him to run their own assessments and recovery programme then Gers will be powerless to stop them.
