Connor Goldson nowhere to be seen, Fabio Silva starts – Confirmed Rangers XI v Hibernian

Philippe Clement has made 3 changes to his Rangers starting lineup for the SPFL clash with Hibernian tonight, the club have confirmed.

Jack Butland returns in goal ahead of Robby McCrorie after his performance in the cup win over Dumbarton at the weekend, while Fabio Silva is named in the starting lineup ahead of Cyriel Dessers.

Connor Goldson is absent from the matchday squad however through suspension, with Leon Balogun into the side to partner John Souttar in central defence.

Exit-linked Ridvan Yilmaz is named as a starter once again despite rumours floating around about his future, with Borna Barisic named as a substitute.

Here we go

The second half of the season is now well and truly upon us, and there is a great opportunity for Clement to take Rangers to a proper title challenge and really push Celtic all the way.

The Old Firm defeat back in December was obviously a huge blow with the way things were shaping up, but the boss has had extra time with the players on the training pitch during the winter break and now they can look to push on.

Injuries remain a big problem for the manager but he has got a strong squad still and that shows with this lineup, and that’s with a week of the transfer window still to play out.

The bench isn’t the strongest and that means the players on the pitch from the start will have to hit the ground running and get things going to really cause Hibs problems and claim the three points, to put all the pressure on Celtic in the coming games.

It’s a new year of league action and that means a chance to start fresh, with a clear target in mind. Now the players have to prove they’re capable.
