Rangers transfer news as Mohamed Diomande v Hibernian update emerges at Ibrox

Mohamed Diomande is unlikely to face Hibernian as a Rangers player on Wednesday 24 January after Storm Isha stopped the 22-year-old from flying into Glasgow, according to Daily Record.

The newspaper reported [23 January] that, as Storm Isha meant several flights were cancelled, a new front of Storm Jocelyn is set to make further disruptions on Tuesday which will delay Diomonde’s signing at Ibrox.

Rangers “remain committed” to the signing of Diomande from Nordsjaelland, looking to put pen to paper as soon as the Ivory Coast international lands in Scotland. However, a cameo against Hibs looks highly unlikely.

January transfer window gets going

With just the loan signing of Fabio Silva from Wolves so far, Rangers fans have been calling out for their club to make another signing as the transfer window drags on.

And despite Diomande being relatively unknown, his record in Norway will be an exciting prospect, scoring 13 goals and registering 14 assists in 111 appearances.

Considering the Gers’ midfield issues this season, with Tom Lawrence, Nico Raskin, Ryan Jack and John Lundstram all unavailable at different times during the current campaign, Diomande could not come into the club soon enough.

At just 22 years of age, Rangers are looking to secure a signing for the future, one that could develop into an incredible talent at Ibrox. He has started 12 of Nordsjaelland’s 17 league matches, even taking the captain’s armband on occasions.

Diomande is a much-needed transfer for Philippe Clement, who will also be targeting a full-back before the window closes on 1 February.

In other Rangers news, continuous talks are being held with one player who has revealed he wants to leave the club.
