Rangers: Philippe Clement issues surgery update on ‘really unlucky’ Kieran Dowell at Ibrox
Philippe Clement has revealed that Rangers ace Kieran Dowell has come through his operation successfully.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday (23 January, via the Rangers Review), the Gers boss said the 26-year-old was “really unlucky” as his studs got caught in the grass on the training pitch on the club’s recent trip to La Manga.
He added that the English midfielder will be out for “quite a long time” despite his surgery going well as the injuries begin to mount up once again at Ibrox.
“Kieran was really unlucky that he stuck in the grass on a bad pitch,” said Clement. “He will be out quite a long time normally. He had his operation, everything went well. That is positive also that the operation went well.”
Blow
This is yet another blow for Rangers after Clement also revealed that Abdallah Sima faces a lengthy period on the sidelines after picking up an injury while away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.
That means the Gers are going to be short in a couple of areas over the next few months if they don’t get some new players through the door before the January transfer window closes.
It will be extremely disappointing to hear that Dowell faces another extended period on the sidelines after he missed several months before Christmas.

The midfielder has only made 11 appearances for the Light Blues since signing from English Championship side Norwich City over the summer.
He will be hoping to get back to full fitness as soon as possible following this latest setback to help his side in their bid to pick up more trophies this year.
