Mohamed Diomande begins process to finalise Rangers transfer in January update
Mohamed Diomande is now finalising his move from FC Nordsjaelland to Rangers in a deal worth £4.5million, according to Scott Burns.
Danish outlet B.T. first reported on Sunday (21 January) that an agreement had been struck between the two clubs over a January transfer.
Scottish Express Sport writer Burns shared a further update on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday (23 January) regarding Diomande, who has been hailed as “incredible” by coach John Walker.
“Rangers will pay a fee of around £4.5million fee to sign Mohamed Diomande from Nordsjaelland,” he said.
“Player in the process of finalising his move to Ibrox.”
Nearly there
A couple of days may have passed since news first emerged of an agreement being reached, but the delay in an official announcement is nothing to be worried about.
Diomande had to fly back from his current club’s training camp in the United States, before then finalising personal terms with the Gers and passing the various medical checks.
Judging by Burns’ update, that is the stage we are now at. In that case, it will not be long until Diomande follows Fabio Silva through the Ibrox entrance in terms of January arrivals.
The £4.5m figure is a bit of a surprise given it was previously thought a fee under the £2m mark had been agreed, but the club clearly like the look of the Ivorian.
If this signing comes with Philippe Clement’s seal of approval – or indeed was handpicked by the Belgian in the first place – then he will no doubt be a great player.
Once this second deal is over the line, hopefully there is room for a third and final arrival in the remaining week or so of the window.
In other Rangers news, Graeme Souness has shared a “concern” he had regarding the appointment of Clement in October.
