Philippe Clement set for tougher job at Rangers after Sky Sports announcement
Rangers manager Philippe Clement has done a superb job at Ibrox so far, with the club flying high in various competitions.
Having already lifted the League Cup trophy under the Belgian, the Gers are into the knockout stages of the Europa League and the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
Catching Celtic in the Scottish Premiership has yet to be achieved, but supporters certainly can’t have too many complaints about the man in the dugout.
The Ibrox side are now back to action following their winter break, having defeated Dumbarton 4-1 on Saturday (20 January) after a warm-weather training camp.
It would have done the players and indeed the manager the world of good as they head into a crucial stage of the season.
But it is a scenario that won’t be handed to them next season, with Sky Sports reporting on Monday (22 January) that there will be no winter break for the Scottish Premiership clubs next time out.
A lack of a winter break could seriously harm the squad’s goals for the campaign, especially if they will be as busy next December as they were last month.
A silver lining comes with the fact that the club’s fierce rivals Celtic will also be without a winter break. But Clement would be wise to focus solely on his own players and their energy levels, both now and next winter.

A Scottish Premiership title race between Rangers and Celtic is currently brewing, with the Gers eight points behind the Bhoys but with two games in hand.
In other Rangers news, a player has informed the club he wants to leave Ibrox, with continuous talks held.
