Exit-linked Leon King surely set for Rangers stay after what happened with Philippe Clement

Rangers were extremely busy in the summer transfer window as Michael Beale looked to transform the club in various areas.

It turned out very badly for the manager, with Beale losing his job at Ibrox not long into the new season, with the boss now at Sunderland.

Beale has been replaced by Philippe Clement, with the Belgian manager now undergoing his first transfer window in Scotland.

It remains to be seen just how much activity there will be at Ibrox this month, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

One player that could fall into the latter category is Leon King, with the Daily Record reporting (7 December) that Clement could sanction a loan move for the defender this month.

So far, the 20-year-old has remained at Ibrox, and looks set to remain the case after discussions between the player and the manager.

“The new manager coming in has been a real boost for me and my confidence and I have managed to get back on the pitch,” said King, as per Sky Sports (22 January).

“I have had a talk with the manager and it went really well. I am really happy at the club and I love staying here and I am just happy playing wherever the manager wants me to.”

The young centre-back has barely featured this season, appearing for just nine minutes in all competitions, but perhaps Clement is reluctant to lose any players at this stage of the season.

With fatigue and injuries potentially creeping in as the months go on, King could yet play a key role for the Gers in various competitions.

But thus far it has been the likes of Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun and John Souttar who Clement has largely relied upon at centre-back.

In other Rangers news, a player has informed the club he wants to leave Ibrox, with continuous talks held.
