Chris Jack shares new timeline for Mohamed Diomande January transfer announcement at Rangers
Chris Jack has claimed he would be surprised if Rangers announce the deal to sign Mohamed Diomande today but reassured fans it would most likely come in the next couple of days.
The Rangers Review journalist clarified that the player is still yet to complete a medical or record any of his club media that is traditional before the announcement, so there will still be a short wait.
His travel to Glasgow has been delayed by Storm Isha, but Jack assured that that is the only reason for the delay to relieve any worries among the fans if the deal isn’t completed within the next few days.
Speaking on The Rangers Review [23 January], Jack shared: “I’d be surprised if it’s today. They still have the medical to go through, and then they’ve obviously got the final stages of all the things clubs have to do to get these deals out.
“He’ll have his club media interviews to do and obviously the scarf picture to do as well. It’s not a case of ‘If it’s not done today, people need to start worrying.’
“Everything is in place, the deal is all in place, once the medical is sorted then that’s us good to go. It will be over the next couple of days.”
No need to worry
Regardless of any concerns around the length of time taken, all signs point to this deal being done unless something absolutely shocking happens before he signs on the dotted line.
Delays have happened because of the weather, but as Jack says, he will travel to Glasgow as soon as he can to complete his medical before recording interviews for the club media, as well as the traditional picture with the scarf to go alongside the announcement.
Everything is in place for the deal, the fee and the intricacies of the contract have all been agreed upon, all that is waiting is a medical check and then the deal can be confirmed, so all being well it will be completed before the end of the week.
The end of the transfer window is likely to be a busy period at Ibrox, with Diomande expected through the door this week and more targets still on the list of possible arrivals with just over a week to go until the end of the window.
