Rangers transfer news as Mohamed Diomande set for crunch Ibrox talks after medical

Mohamed Diomande is set to sit down with Rangers chiefs James Bisgrove and Nils Koppen following his medical in the next couple of days to put the rubber stamp on his transfer, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper shared via its website on 21 January that the midfielder is expected to sign a long-term deal at Ibrox, ahead of leaving the Nordsjaelland training camp to complete the deal.

With a medical set to take place in the coming days, it seems like a matter of time until he is pictured with the Rangers scarf around his neck.

Real coup for Rangers

Everything you read since this deal was first reported suggests Rangers have a real coup on their hands here. At just 22 years old, Diomande has plenty of time to grow and develop his game at Ibrox, while immediately stepping in to improve the team.

A natural centre-midfielder, there have been suggestions that Philippe Clement could opt to use him in the number ten role to replace the outgoing Sam Lammers, while he is also capable of filling in out wide if he is required there.

He has plenty of experience for his age as well, having moved to Europe in 2020 and picking up 111 appearances, as well as 13 goal contributions from midfield, in that time. With that experience comes know-how this Rangers squad will need.

A new midfielder was high on the list of priorities at Ibrox this January as a result of the issues they have faced with squad depth, often leading to Dujon Sterling filling in outside of his usual right-back position.
