Rangers fans should be worried over new John Lundstram contract, same mistakes may be made at Ibrox
Rangers have made plenty of transfer mistakes over the years, both in terms of incomings and outgoings at Ibrox.
Just last summer, the Gers said goodbye to two long-serving stars in Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, who left at the end of the campaign.
Frustratingly for the club, both left on free transfers upon the expiry of their contracts, a massive error given how plenty of money could have been made from their sales.
Incredibly, the Gers are now going down that road once again, with five first-team players out of contract at the end of the current season [Sky Sports, 20 January].
One such player is midfield ace John Lundstram, with manager Philippe Clement now addressing his situation in particular.
“It is a financial thing between him and the club,” said Clement, as per Sky Sports (20 January). “Both parties show interest to do that, that’s clear, so we are going to see in the next couple of weeks and months.
“He is in a situation where he can sign somewhere else but it is clear that he feels good at the club and everybody tells me he is showing a better level than he did at the beginning of this season, so I want to see him continue like that then I think there will be a solution between the two parties.”
While fans can take some confidence from those words, there is a very real chance that Lundstram will not agree a new deal and will leave in the summer.

It would be a carbon copy of the Kent and Morelos exits, with Lundstram currently a key piece of the puzzle under Clement.
The former Premier League midfielder has been crucial for his manager this season, and showed his prowess in front of goal most recently in the Scottish Cup win against Dumbarton on Saturday (20 January).
