Rangers ‘confirm’ Mohamed Diomande deal progress as January transfer window signing ‘definitely’ on way in at Ibrox
Mohamed Diomande is “definitely” a new Rangers addition to look forward to in the coming days, according to The 4th Official.
The online outlet reported via Patreon on 21 January that after Danish sources had broken the news of impending arrival at Ibrox earlier the day [B.T.] it had now even been “confirmed” by the club that a deal was “in progress”.
The FC Nordsjaelland midfielder is set to become the second January signing after the loan deal that brought Fabio Silva in from Wolves.
Diomande, 22, left the Danish club’s training camp in order so he could travel to Glasgow to complete the move, and it looks to now be imminent.
Late push
It will come as some relief to Philippe Clement and the fanbase for some activity to have developed, and the hope will be that the young Ivorian will be followed by a couple more reinforcements.
Striker was an obvious priority heading into the winter window with Cyriel Dessers the only fit number nine now left in the squad, and his performance in the Scottish Cup win at Dumbarton on 20 January only served to illustrate the need for back up.
Abdallah Sima’s return from the Africa Cup of Nations with an injury looks like it could rob Clement of another vital attacking element and only increases the need for goals to be added to this Rangers side.
Diomande isn’t likely to be that even if he does appear to be an exciting signing who would be a positive addition to the squad.

And with left-back having clearly been identified by the manager as a key concern this month an answer on Ridvan Yilmaz’s immediate future and a possible replacement arriving is on the agenda.
The January window is famously difficult to do extensive business in on a budget but it would leave Rangers looking lopsided if their work in the market ends after Diomande’s arrival.
