Winner named in Rangers and Hoffenheim transfer race for Benfica left-back David Jurasek
Hoffenheim have beaten Rangers in the race to secure the services of Benfica left-back David Jurasek, according to Football Scotland.
The media outlet reported on Friday, 19 January, that while left-back is a position they want strengthened, the Czech Republic international is not on his way to Ibrox.
Having just moved to Portugal this summer from Slavia Prague, the 23-year-old is set for different surroundings once again.
The report reads: “Left-back is a position Gers want strengthened but David Jurasek won’t rock up in Glasgow despite recent links. The Czech defender gets ready to join Hoffenheim in Germany instead.”
Waste of time
Jurasek never seem like a likely option so if Rangers did actively pursue him regardless then it is a waste of time.
They have to explore the market, have a shortlist of three players willing to join and then see which one is the best option.
Whether or not Ridvan Yilmaz leaves, a new left-back needs to be signed as soon as possible as even Borna Barisic is facing an uncertain future at the club.
The 23-year-old would have been a good option as he’s attack minded and would be an upgrade on Barisic and Yilmaz.
However, that does not mean there aren’t similar players out there and scouts are paid money for exactly times like this.

Rangers do not have the financial pull to sign players ahead of Premier League clubs or other top sides in the top five European leagues.
They have to go for lowkey names that perhaps will not be on the radar of such teams and then go on about their business.
In other Rangers news, a £4.8million bid update has emerged as development occurs in Gers’ quest to seal a January signing.
