Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz transfer saga undergoes fresh twist amid Galatasaray and Hellas Verona links
Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz is understood to be happy at the club and has not informed Philippe Clement that he wants out, according to Football Scotland.
The newspaper outlet reports on 19 January that despite updates on bids from Galatasaray and Hellas Verona, the Turkey international is not forcing his way out of Ibrox.
Milliyet reported on the same day that the 22-year-old had told the club he plans to leave, but that’s not understood to be the case.
Football Scotland wrote: “Ridvan Yilmaz has NOT told Clement he wants to leave Rangers, despite recent reports. Football Scotland has been told the Turkish left-back is even happy to remain at the club this window despite talk of a number of bids from the likes of Hellas Verona and Galatasaray.”
Uturn?
If Yilmaz has truly decided to stay at Ibrox, it could be seen as a positive turn for Rangers, especially considering the reported interest from clubs like Hellas Verona and Galatasaray.
Retaining the Turk would bolster the team’s defensive options, offering experience and depth in crucial positions.
However, the situation shouldn’t necessarily deter Rangers from exploring additional left-back options, given the looming contract uncertainty surrounding Borna Barisic.
Planning for the future and ensuring a solid defensive lineup remains crucial, especially with the potential departure of key players.
As the transfer window progresses, Gers may need to strike a balance between retaining valuable assets like Yilmaz and making strategic moves to strengthen their squad for the upcoming challenges.

If there is good money that’s being offered for the 22-year-old and if he’s not really part of Clement’s plans, moves should be made to offload him.
In other Rangers news, a £4.8million bid update has emerged as development occurs in Gers’ quest to seal a January signing.
