Rangers transfer news: ‘Bumper’ Josh Doig January move to be completed Friday amid Ibrox links after Thursday medical update
Josh Doig will now complete a “bumper move” to Sassuolo on Friday (19 January) amid interest from Rangers, according to The Times.
The paper reported via their website on the same day that the left-back is leaving Hellas Verona for the fellow Italian side for £5million with an additional £850,000 in add-ons.
The Light Blues were interested in the Scot but ultimately didn’t follow up with a formal bid, despite his previously expected move to Marseille collapsing.

Doig, 21, is believed to have been in Milan on Thursday night to carry out his medical and “thrash out” the final details of his personal terms for a four and a half year deal.
Expensive
If money wasn’t an issue then Rangers would surely have made an official push to bring Doig to Ibrox, since the future of Ridvan Yilmaz is so uncertain.
It would seemingly have worked all round if the Turk had switched places, having been thought to be close to a move to Verona earlier in the January transfer window.
But since Philippe Clement has expressed that Yilmaz isn’t going anywhere unless the Gers receive an offer they can’t refuse [Sky Sports, 17 January], and with Doig costing £5m-plus, it appears to have been financially unfeasible.

There appears to be a lot of interest in the 22-year-old Ibrox full-back but if it isn’t going to fund the club making other moves this month then it doesn’t make sense to let him go.
Borna Barisic’s future is also unclear past the end of his current contract in the summer and Clement doesn’t want to be left without either and scrambling to find someone.
It isn’t a hugely encouraging sign that Yilmaz has only shown flashes over the past 18 months and hasn’t managed to displace the Croatian yet, but he is currently performing well enough to contribute so keeping him in place past the deadline and revisiting the position in the summer may end up being the only sensible option.
In other Rangers news, the club know the asking price for an attacking ace after making another approach to sign him this month.
