Rangers: Philippe Clement may have suffered yet another Ibrox blow as ‘curious’ Abdallah Sima development emerges
Philippe Clement may yet have suffered yet another blow at Rangers after a fresh Abdallah Sima development for Senegal on Friday (19 January).
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (19 January) the boss revealed that Brazil striker Danilo is unlikely to return to action until the “last weeks of the season” following knee surgery.
Danilo was initially expected to be out for four months following his injury in December but he remains on the sidelines alongside fellow long-term absentee Kieran Dowell.
And there could yet be even more cause for concern at Ibrox following a development at the African Cup of Nations involving key player Sima.
The 15-goal Rangers forward is currently away with the Senegal national team for the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, in their Friday evening (19 January) 3-1 win over Cameroon, Sima was nowhere to be seen in the matchday squad fuelling doubts that he may well have picked up an injury.
Sima had been included as an option from the bench in Senegal’s first match against Gambia on Monday.
But the on-loan Brighton talent did not make an appearance as he remained on the bench during the 3-0 win.
It’s unclear why Sima has not at least made the bench for the match, with Glasgow Evening Times (19 January) referring to the situation as “Curious”.
Sima is a major absentee for Rangers during the AFCON as he will miss a number of matches due to international commitments.
And should Senegal continue to progress in the tournament then it will have a knock-on effect on Sima’s return timeline to Scottish domestic action.

However, there could now be fears at Ibrox after this fresh development that Sima could well be returning to Rangers with a fresh injury blow that could be incredibly damaging to Clement’s title aspirations.
