Rangers: Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk shares transfer admission on exit-linked Ridvan Yilmaz, ‘It will happen’
Okan Buruk has revealed that Galatasaray are no closer to signing a left-back amid the links to Rangers ace Ridvan Yilmaz.
Asked about the interest in signing the 22-year-old, the Turkish side’s manager said on Thursday (18 January, via Bandiera Sport) that there are players his club are “in talks with”.
He added that if the Super Lig club manage to move on some of the players they have, then they will be in a position to bring new signings in as the money they manage to bring in is “important”.
“Left-back can be either local or foreign,” said Buruk. “We are not close to finalizing anything. There are players we are in talks with.
“For other places, if there is a sale of the players we have, it will happen. The money that will enter the club’s coffers is also important.”
Likely
It seems pretty likely that Yilmaz will leave Rangers this month as the rumours around his future have rumbled on since the transfer market opened.
It sounds as though finances are what are holding matters up for Galatasaray, though, with the Gers likely to want to at least recoup the £3.4million they paid to sign him from Besiktas in 2022.
The left-back hasn’t exactly pulled up trees during that time, but he has been a regular fixture in the side since Philippe Clement took over in October.
If the Turk were to leave, then the Light Blues would likely want to have lined up a replacement as they will be left with just Borna Barisic as the only option at left-back.
It’ll be interesting to see how this situation develops over the next few days, but everything is pointing towards the defender leaving Ibrox this month.
In other Rangers news, a player the Gers want to sign has been offered a “lucrative” contract.
