Philippe Clement fumes at ‘crazy’ situation at Rangers

Philippe Clement has left fuming after he made the revelation that five players are out of contract at Rangers at the end of the season.

With the January transfer window soon reaching its business end, the Belgian was undoubtedly asked about his plans to bring in players through the door.

However, he highlighted the fact that the club had to deal with their current players too and ensure everyone is on the same page, with a behind-the-scenes revelation made.

He said: “We are not the most wealthy club in the world…this season to have five players out of contract is a crazy situation.”

Clement added: “We had individual talks with all players at Training Camp. It was the most open talk I have had with the team, about everything.”

Tough situation

Clement, who took charge of Rangers in October 2023, faces a challenging situation as he grapples with the aftermath of his predecessor Michael Beale’s tenure.

The revelation that five players are out of contract at the end of the season adds complexity to the Belgian’s responsibilities.

The limited financial resources at Ibrox intensify the urgency to address this contractual uncertainty.

Clement not only has the immediate task of achieving instant results and implementing his tactical vision but also the responsibility of managing contract negotiations and potential departures amid the January transfer window.

The need to clear up the mess left by Beale requires Clement to navigate a delicate situation, ensuring squad stability while adapting to his managerial style.

Juggling immediate performance expectations, long-term planning, and addressing contract situations demands exceptional managerial skills.

The openness in individual talks signifies Clement’s proactive approach, yet the challenge remains substantial and hopefully, he gets what he’s looking for this month.
