Rangers transfer news: Left-back update emerges amid Liverpool defender Owen Beck and David Jurasek links

Rangers are unlikely to sign any of Liverpool defender Owen Beck, Benfica left-back David Jurasek or Josh Doig and Kai Wagner in January, per the Daily Record.

The news outlet reported on 18 January that Ridvan Yilmaz faces an uncertain future and could be allowed to leave if a new left-back is signed.

However, any of the four aforementioned names do not look like they’re heading to Ibrox this summer.

The 10:27 am update reads: “David Jurasek is on the move to Hoffenheim on loan from Benfica, according to A Bola.

“That means that Rangers are looking to more left-back targets. Clement has been linked the Czech star, Josh Doig, Kai Wagner and Owen Beck but all four of them look unlikely.

“So what comes next? The Belgian has already confirmed Ridvan Yilmaz won’t be allowed to leave unless a replacement can be found so could this mean there’s an Ibrox future for the Turkish star after all?”

Mess

With Jurasek’s move to Hoffenheim, Rangers face an urgent need for a left-back, especially considering the unlikelihood of securing targets like Doig, Wagner and Beck.

Clement’s confirmation that Yilmaz won’t be allowed to leave without a replacement underscores the critical situation, but the options are dwindling rapidly.

Rangers must act swiftly to avoid a potential gap in the squad, as relying on the Turk, who may also seek a move due to limited game time under Clement, poses risks.

The transfer window’s closing will soon be around the corner and securing a suitable left-back is essential for squad depth and competitiveness in various competitions.

The club’s pursuit of alternative targets needs to intensify and negotiations must be expedited to ensure a seamless transition and maintain defensive stability.

Hopefully, there are other options that the club are considering and working on as none of the four aforementioned names seem likely to move to Ibrox.
