Dutch pundit fires jibe at Rangers duo Cyriel Dessers and Danilo in damning new Sam Lammers verdict
Aad de Mos has slammed Rangers loanee Sam Lammers in a backhanded jibe towards Cyriel Dessers and Danilo after the Dutchman joined Utrecht on loan from the Light Blues.
The 26-year-old struggled to hit the heights expected of him during his brief spell at Ibrox, only managing to score twice in 31 appearances under both Philippe Clement and Michael Beale before returning to the Netherlands on a temporary basis.
But former Ajax and PSV boss De Mos is not convinced that Lammers will rediscover his form during his loan spell, suggesting that it speaks volumes that he was outlasted by Dessers and Danilo at Ibrox.

Speaking on the SoccerNews YouTube channel (17 January) he said: “He has not shown it at Atalanta, at Rangers FC he has also been overtaken by Danilo and Cyriel Dessers.
He was redundant at PSV; he played some nice matches there. So he is a boy with qualities. With all due respect, if you are not allowed to participate at Rangers FC and you have Danilo and Dessers in front of you.
“If it had been Dessers, everyone might have said something different, and I’m not convinced of Danilo either. It’s all too much in the bank and it’s too variable. Then there is no guarantee that you will simply join in, in the Netherlands.”
Brutal
It speaks volumes that those away from Ibrox have been so critical of Rangers’ current strike force with pundits even in the Netherlands believing that Clement’s current options are nowhere near the standard required to be a success in the Scottish Premiership.
Lammers has been the worst of a bad bunch so far this season and quickly fell down the pecking order when Clement arrived in Glasgow. But he wasn’t kept out of the starting XI because of his teammates’ good form.

Both Danilo and Dessers have repeatedly missed big chances often at crucial stages of big games, but Lammers’ poor form ensured that he was the first pushed out of the exit door by Clement as soon as the transfer window opened.
Hopefully, the Light Blues will be able to find a new number nine before the end of the January transfer window. Without another attacking addition it’s hard to see how they’ll beat Celtic to the Premiership challenge.
