Derek Clark makes Fabio Silva prediction amid Abdallah Sima absence as Rangers transfer verdict shared
Fabio Silva and Rabbi Matondo will be battling it out for a starting role at Rangers amid the absence of Abdallah Sima.
That is according to journalist Derek Clark, with Sima currently on international duty with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Matondo found the back of the net as Philippe Clement’s side drew 2-2 with FC Copenhagen in a friendly on Tuesday (16 January).

Silva meanwhile has arrived at the Ibrox club on loan from Premier League side Wolves for the remainder of the season.
“Good goal from Matondo,” Clark said on The Rangers Review (18 January). “I need to see more of him I’ve got to admit, but he and Silva I think will be the two players vying for that position, and still Rangers I think need someone up there alongside Cyriel Dessers.”

Big boots to fill
Whoever comes in for Sima certainly has big boots to fill, with the on-loan Brighton man enjoying himself in blue this season.
He has been the main creative spark for the Gers over the last few months, with his pace and trickery causing all sorts of problems for defenders.
The attacker’s finishing meanwhile has been a joy to behold, with Sima starring in various competitions, firstly under Michael Beale and then under Clement.
Silva was undoubtedly brought to the club ahead of Sima’s expected absence and indeed due to the struggles of some of the other forwards at Ibrox.
The young Wolves striker now has a great chance to impress his manager and his temporary fan base, but whether that is from the start or from the bench more often than not remains to be seen.
First up for the Ibrox club following their winter break is a trip to Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup fourth round on Saturday (20 January).
In other Rangers news, the Gers have made an approach for a new striker, with the player ready to perform.
