Rangers transfer news: Chris Jack shares ‘madness’ verdict amid Ridvan Yilmaz to Galatasaray latest
Chris Jack says it would be “madness” if Rangers offload Ridvan Yilmaz in the January transfer window and fail to bring in a replacement.
Ridvan continues to be linked with the Ibrox exit ahead of the 2 February deadline, with Galatasaray said to be hopeful of striking a deal [Milliyet].
Should the Turkey international depart, it would leave Borna Barisic – who is out of contract in the summer – as their only recognised left-back.
Speaking on The Rangers Review podcast [17 January, 18m 54s], Herald writer Jack said: “Rangers simply can’t be left with only Borna Barisic.
“They need to have someone in the building before he leaves, or have a deal all but sealed for someone to come in.
“It’d be madness if Rangers leave themselves short. If they can get a decent fee, they can reinvest it into the squad.”
Stick or twist?
The ball is very much in Rangers’ court with regards to Ridvan’s future at Ibrox as we enter the latter stages of the transfer window.
Nobody would lose sleep over the defender departing this month after a rather so-so time of things in Glasgow since joining the club.
If the Light Blues can recoup the transfer fee, or even make a slight profit, it would make perfect sense to cash in now.

At the same time, Philippe Clement will not want to be left light in that department, even if it is just for the next four months or so.
A new left-back will be near the top of the priority list in the summer, especially considering Barisic is out of contract in June.
It may well be a case of informing any interested clubs that Ridvan will be available in the summer, but until then Rangers will surely keep hold.
In other Rangers news, the Gers must now push to sign an “outstanding” player following comments made by his manager.
