Rangers transfer news: Derek Clark makes Ridvan Yilmaz admission amid Galatasaray speculation
Derek Clark “would be surprised” if Ridvan Yilmaz remains a Rangers player come the end of the January transfer window.
Turkish outlet Milliyet reported on Wednesday (17 January) that talks are ongoing between the Gers and Galatasaray over a possible deal.
That comes on the back of Philippe Clement admitting the previous day that the club would evaluate any offers that meet their asking price.
Discussing Ridvan’s future at Ibrox on The Rangers Review podcast [17 January, 17m 4s], Clark said: “I’ve got to say, with all the noise surrounding him, I would be surprised if he’s still a Rangers player come the close of the window.
“I wouldn’t be too disappointed if that was the case. Rangers are looking for replacements out there.”
Saga
This is turning into the transfer saga of the window from Rangers’ perspective, albeit without the jeopardy that comes with a real fan favourite being linked with the exit.
That is no disrespect to Ridvan, but many supporters would accept his exit should the club be able to recoup his transfer fee from Galatasaray.

Given the updates over the past 24 hours or so, from Clement’s comments to the report from Turkey, it does look as though a deal could be on the cards.
If that proves to be the case, you would like to think that the Gers have a player lined up to come the opposite way and provide competition for Borna Barisic.
Even if that is a loan deal, that would be fine as it would keep Clement’s squad competitive until the summer, at which point a permanent replacement can be signed.
With two weeks of the window still to go, do not expect these rumours to go away any time soon.
