David Jurasek prepares to quit as Rangers transfer update emerges from Portugal

David Jurasek is preparing to leave Benfica in the January transfer window following the arrival of Alvaro Fernandez from Manchester United with Rangers keen on a loan deal, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese news outlet reported in their print edition [16 January, page 11] that Jurasek visited the Algarve where his former club Slavia Prague are training to visit some of his former teammates.

It is also said that there is no shortage of interest in the left-back’s signature including French outfits Lens and Marseille, as well as clubs from Germany and England.

Rangers have to get ahead of the competition

The Ibrox club have been the most heavily linked with a move for Jurasek in the January window, with their need for a left-back becoming apparent as they prepare to allow Ridvan Yilmaz to leave this month amid interest from Hellas Verona and Galatasaray.

On top of that, Borna Barisic could leave the club when his contract expires in the summer, making the left-back spot a priority for the transfer team in Glasgow.

All roads are pointing towards an exit for Jurasek, and the level of interest in his signature is a sign that Rangers will have to move quickly to get it over the line with minimal fuss, as they cannot afford to miss out on this deal with time running out.
