Kenny Miller gives Connor Barron verdict amid Aberdeen to Rangers or Celtic transfer links
Kenny Miller does not believe Rangers should consider a move for Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron.
The 21-year-old has been touted as a target for Old Firm pair Rangers and Celtic, as well as Brentford, [Football Scotland, 13 December] as his Dons contract ticks down.
Barron, who has played 32 times for Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, is due to become a free agent at the end of the campaign.

However, when discussing whether the Gers should move for the Scottish youngster on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, as per Football Scotland [15 January], Miller said: “I like what I’ve seen of him.
“But to move to Rangers when you aren’t getting a game for Aberdeen… is he going to improve Rangers at this moment in time?
“He’s never been a regular in that Aberdeen midfield as one of their big performers. To get a move from Aberdeen to Rangers, you need to be Aberdeen’s best player. That’s it. And let’s be honest, he’s not Aberdeen’s best player.
“From what I’ve seen, I think he’s a really good player, a good Scottish youngster. But Rangers need guys to come in and improve that starting line-up, not guys that are potentially going to get in.”
Unlikely
The priority for Rangers in any transfer window is always to improve on what they have, but that is not to say they should not take a punt – if you can call it that – on a younger player.
Barron has showed plenty of promise and he is very experienced for a player of his age, having now played across three campaigns at the age of just 21 – and he does not turn 22 until next season.

The fact he should be available for a small fee makes this more enticing, with Aberdeen knowing full well he will not generate any sort of transfer fee come the summer.
Rangers have been very short of options in the central midfield area this season, although when everyone is fit and available that is not quite the case.
Philippe Clement will no doubt have his own options in mind, and so this does not look like a deal the Gers will explore on the face of it.
