Rangers transfer news: Ridvan Yilmaz exit stance shared amid Galatasaray interest
Ridvan Yilmaz intends to stay at Rangers beyond the January transfer window, according to Turkish reporter Dogan Gundogdu.
The Gers are reported to have rebuffed a “cheeky” bid from Super Lig side Galatasaray worth around £3.4million [Daily Record, 15 January].
Hellas Verona are also said to hold an interest in Ridvan, but Gundogdu expects him to remain at Ibrox.
Posting on his personal Twitter page [15 January], the Sozcu journalist said: “Ridvan Yilmaz wants to continue at Rangers. He has no plans to come to Turkey.”
No rush
Ridvan departing Rangers this month seemed a certainty at one point, while there are still question marks over Borna Barisic’s future.
However, it is now starting to look more and more likely that he will remain at Ibrox until at least the end of the campaign.
While the Gers would like an upgrade on Ridvan, who has lacked consistency when called upon, they will only sell for the right price.

Given he has three-and-a-half years to run on his contract, the ball is very much in Rangers’ court.
The fact the player also supposedly wants to stay, despite his Gers career never really taking off, is further proof of that.
It may well be that both the player’s and the club’s stance changes in the summer, at which point Rangers will have more time to find a replacement.
For now, though, Ridvan and Barisic will remain in competition for a start at left-back.
In other Rangers news, Hugh Keevins has made an “odd” claim regarding a Gers first-team regular.
