Sam Lammers lifts lid on ‘logical’ Rangers experience after January Ibrox exit
Sam Lammers has lifted the lid on his time at Rangers having completed a loan move to FC Utrecht, with the Dutchman refusing to deem his time at Ibrox a mistake.
The 26-year-old joined the ranks in Glasgow under the management of Michael Beale in the summer but struggled to find his feet in the Scottish game managing to score and assist only twice in 31 appearances in all competitions.
Having fallen down the pecking order under the management of Philippe Clement, Lammers moved to Eredivisie for the second half of the season and has admitted that he would like to stay with one club having bounced around in the last few seasons.

As quoted by Dutch outlet NOS (13 January) he said: “Well… You shouldn’t think like that, it doesn’t make you happy. You never know how things would have turned out differently. I have gained many experiences, won prizes and fought against relegation (in his career).
“The move to another club was logical for me every time because I wanted to get around to playing. Like now at Utrecht.
“But it seems clear to me that it is better to stay in one place for a longer period of time.”
Never know
Rangers supporters were rightly excited when Lammers arrived at Ibrox in the summer as all the Ducthman’s highlight reels and clips on social media made it look as though the Light Blues had signed a real gem.
However, in his incredibly brief Ibrox career so far, the Dutchman has been unable to match that expectation and has been little more than another disappointment in Rangers’ season. However, that was not down to a lack of effort or intent.

No supporter can ever claim that Lammers looked disinterested or didn’t give his all on the pitch. The forward always worked hard with or without the ball, it was just clear that he didn’t fit Clement or Beale’s style with no obvious preferred position in the team.
Hopefully, his loan back in the Netherlands will go well and the Rangers loanee may even be able to earn a permanent switch away from Ibrox to finally have the extended stay at one club that he has desired.
