Benfica commentator raves about Rangers move to sign David Jurasek as Ibrox transfer approach news emerges
Bruno Francisco, a commentator in Portugal, has raved about the idea of Benfica left-back David Jurasek signing for Rangers this January.
The Ibrox club have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old defender, as per Abola, battling the likes of Marseille for his signature, while Benfica close in on a loan deal for Manchester United youngster Alvaro Fernandez.
Francisco believes that there are few clubs better than Rangers for Jurasek, taking to X to state that Ibrox would be the “perfect fit” for the defender amid a potential move for the five-time Czechia international.
“Of all the options for Jurásek, the Rangers were likely to be the best,” he wrote via X on Sunday (14 January).
“There would be space, others would play in a team that takes over, it’s more physical and more direct football… It ends up being a place where he would fit in well.”
A second option
Having seemingly missed out on the opportunity to sign Josh Doig to Marseille on a £5million deal, as per Sunday Mail, Jurasek represents another choice at left-back for Philippe Clement and Rangers.
Having signed for Benfica in July 2023, the 23-year-old has only made 12 appearances since making the switch from Slavia Prague, missing several matches due to injury.

Benfica are yet to see the best of Jurasek. But with the potential signing of Fernandez from Man United, the fans may never see the best of him, as Rangers look to tempt him away from the club after just four months in Portugal.
Jurasek’s talent should not be questioned, even despite his lack of game time at club level. The full-back has won five caps at international level, playing a vital role in Czechia’s Euro qualifiers.
He has plenty of experience but is relatively unknown. Three of his 12 appearances have come in the Champions League, performing well in difficult matches against Real Sociedad, home and away.
Clement should take a punt on Jurasek, with Rangers’ left-back spot still very open.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are reportedly open to another player exit as multiple clubs line up to complete a deal.
