Rangers: Derek Ferguson thrilled with behind-the-scenes decision Philippe Clement made at Ibrox
We’re delighted to welcome former Ibrox star Derek Ferguson as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points in Govan…
Derek Ferguson was delighted to see his old pal Alex Rae kept on the Rangers backroom team by Philippe Clement at Ibrox.
Rae was drafted in to help Steven Davis during his interim tenure when Michael Beale was sacked at the start of October.
It was confirmed in December that Rae was being kept on the coaching under Clement until the end of the season.

Former Rangers man Ferguson – speaking exclusively to Ibrox News – thinks it was a canny move from Clement to keep Rae involved behind the scenes.
He said: “I love the fact he took his time with some of the staff as well, one of my mates old Alex Rae I was delighted because Alex is a great guy, knows the game inside out.
“He’s taken his time with Alex in terms of making a decision over whether he was going to keep him on so I’m delighted for Alex because I think he (Clement) realises it’s not always about the player or about the coach it’s about what they’re like as people and I think that’s what he’s done really well.

“He works with players not just out on the grass it’s taking them the right way as people, getting them playing for you, that’s a big part of football.
“I just think he’s got something about him there’s that likeability kind of factor but there’s that kind of steeliness, a wee bit old fashioned but I just love the way he kind of handles everything.”
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the future of one player linked with a January move to Ibrox.
