Ryan Kent Rangers return may be back on the cards after Fabrizio Romano transfer update emerges

Almost a third of the January window has passed already and despite suggestions of a mass overhaul at Ibrox, Rangers have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far.

The Light Blues’ only piece of incoming business under Philippe Clement so far has seen Fabio Silva join the ranks in Glasgow on loan from Wolves for the second half of the Scottish Premiership season. Other than that, it has been nothing but speculation and rumours.

It has almost become an open secret that Clement would like to add to his frontline before the end of the month, whether that be through a move for a new number nine or new wingers and one potential transfer may have just become even easier to pull off.

Rangers

Turkish journalist Ahmet Selim Kul has said that Ryan Kent’s time at Fenerbache could be set to come to a premature end as the Turkish giants may need to cut a foreign player from their squad to accommodate the arrival of Leonardo Bonucci.

Speaking on the Rangers Review (11 January) he said: “If Fenerbahce have to register Bonnuci to their squad then they have to let another foreign player go and Kent will be that player because he could not play a lot.

“The squad mentality has changed and he has also been unable to get used to the Istanbul way of life. He is a bit of a shy guy and not a very social guy and because of that Kent could not get used to the city very well so it is looking like the club will sell Kent in this transfer window.”

Bonucci’s arrival in Turkey was confirmed later on Thursday evening, with Fabrizio Romano posting a photo of the Italian defender in his new colours to his personal X page.

Clement has previously suggested that a deal for Kent this January would be “unrealistic” [Scottish Sun, 9 December], however, this latest update surrounding his position in Fenerbache’s squad could see an Ibrox return become plausible once again.

If the Englishman is out of favour in Turkey as reported, a transfer could be completed for a cut price fee, especially considering the fact Kent’s own preference is a return to Scotland or a move to England this month.

Clement may have suggested such a move is out of the question for Rangers, but the recent updates from Romano and Kul could see the rumour mill start spinning once again.
