Rangers transfer news: Chris Jack gives Ryan Kent to Ibrox verdict amid Fenerbahce exit talk

Chris Jack does not believe there is any chance of Ryan Kent returning to Rangers amid talk the winger is open to a return to Scotland.

Turkish journalist Ahmet Selim Kul told The Rangers Review podcast on Thursday (11 January) that Kent’s time at Fenerbahce looks up.

The signing of Leonardo Bonucci means that a foreign player must be sold, and Kent is the most likely player to move on this month.

Kul added that Kent does not want to leave, but his preference is to move to the English Premier League or Scottish Premiership if he does so.

However, when put to him that Rangers would be an obvious link for Kent, Jack told The Rangers Review Podcast [12 January]: “That ship has very much sailed.”

Could add something

Kent’s five-year stay with Rangers only came to an end last summer, but already he is looking as though he is on his way out of Turkey.

The move abroad has not gone as planned for the former Liverpool player, who has struggled for minutes during his time with Fenerbahce.

It is unfortunate that he is effectively being forced out by the signing of Bonucci, meaning he must make a swift decision over his future.

Rangers certainly would not say no to another wide player this month, but Kent’s time as a Gers player has been and gone.

Philippe Clement did little to play down talk of a possible move for Kent – and Alfredo Morelos – when asked about him last month.

Kent did assist eight goals and score three more in 28 league games for Rangers last season, so he would definitely add something.

At the same time, though, it is important the Light Blues focus on bringing in fresh talent rather than going back to the past.

In other Rangers news, Chris Jack has shared what he expects to happen next for a player linked with the Ibrox exit.
