Rangers transfer news: Ridvan Yilmaz update emerges as Galatasaray draw up four options

Galatasaray want to sign Rangers left-back whether or not they manage to sign any of their other three targets, according to Yakup Cinar.

The Yeni Acik journalist, a Turkish news outlet with over 130k Twitter followers and over 60k YouTube subscribers, claims that Maxim De Cuyper, Bradley Locko and Leonardo Spinazzola are all wanted by Galatasaray.

However, the Gers left-back is a priority independent of these names as he nears an Ibrox exit.

Via Twitter, Cinar wrote, “Apart from Angelino, Galatasaray also wants to send Kazımcan on loan. For this reason, the transfer of 2 left-backs is on the agenda at half-time…

“Priority: Maxim De Cuyper, Bradley Locko and Leonardo Spinazzola.

“Rıdvan Yılmaz is wanted to join the squad as the second left back, independent of these names.”

Need a replacement

Having struggled to secure a regular spot and often playing second fiddle to Borna Barisic, Yilmaz appears set for a move to Galatasaray in the January transfer window.

Seemingly keen on a permanent return, the left-back may benefit from a fresh start and consistent playing time elsewhere.

For Rangers, securing a swift replacement is imperative as with Yilmaz likely to depart, having a new left-back in place during the winter break allows the player to integrate quickly into Philippe Clement’s system.

This adaptation period is crucial for seamless team cohesion as the new left-back needs time to understand Clement’s tactical nuances and gel with the squad, ensuring a smooth transition.

By acting swiftly, Gers can maintain defensive stability and offensive support from the left flank, minimising disruptions during a critical phase of the season.

They’ll be making an overall loss on Yilmaz but there will be funds coming in and they’ll have some money to spend on a replacement and other areas.

In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit to sign a new left-back as Ridvan Yilmaz’s Ibrox exit appears to be edging closer.
