Nils Koppen transfer priorities emerge at Ibrox as Rangers look to South America – Chris Jack
Rangers will continue to prioritise recruitment from both mainland Europe and South America under Nils Koppen while also scouting untapped areas, according to Chris Jack.
The Rangers Review journalist reported on Wednesday (10 January) that the Light Blues will attempt to use Koppen’s vast knowledge of the footballing world to move into new recruitment markets that they previously haven’t utilised.
In the future, the Light Blues plan to explore America, Scandinavia and even the Far East as they look to find new potential talent, but they also intend to remain in a position where they can acquire the best British talent available to them.

Several targets have already been identified to fit Philippe Clement’s ideas at Ibrox, while Koppen’s knowledge of the game has allowed him to explore potential recruits.
Worldwide recruitment
Rangers have always been able to recruit players from all around the world as they have looked to strengthen their side, but under the management of Clement and Koppen that could be set to step up to yet another level.
Koppen’s knowledge of the world game and his willingness to look at targets from typically untapped areas such as America and Scandinavia could see Rangers find potential superstars that they previously would have never even heard of.

Whether or not it helps the Light Blues in their push to overthrow Celtic and once again become the dominant force in the Premiership remains to be seen, but it could have a potentially huge effect on the balance in the Scottish game.
Celtic have thrived in their recruitment particularly from Asia in recent years and if Rangers can do the same while picking up some of South America’s brightest talent, the next few transfer windows under Koppen and Clement could be very exciting.
