Rangers transfer news: Club busy with attempt to take Sam Lammers from Ibrox in January window
FC Utretch are “busy trying to bring Sam Lammers back to the Eredivisie” on loan from Rangers this month, according to De Telegraaf.
The Dutch outlet reported via their transfer live-blog on 9 January (3.02pm update) that the struggling Ibrox forward’s potential exit has been “confirmed by several sources”.
With Fabio Silva having already arrived on loan from Wolves in the New Year Lammers is available due to an “excess of attackers” in the Light Blues squad.

Lammers, 26, arrived from Atalanta as part of Michael Beale’s doomed summer overhaul but has failed to adapt and has only scored twice this season, leaving Philippe Clement to embark on strengthening his attack this month.

A permanent exit where Rangers somehow made a decent amount of their £3.5million back [Daily Record, 15 June] would be the ideal outcome this month, but midseason such a development is always going to be a challenge.
Either way, from the club and the player’s point of view a move of some sort seems to be the only answer to the Dutchman’s difficult Gers career at this stage.
Clement showed remarkable faith in the former Atalanta man when he took over from Beale, but too often the attacker was bypassed by the action and he has since been relegated to the bench for the most part.

With Danilo injured, Kemar Roofe never off the treatment table for long, and Cyriel Dessers also struggling, although to a lesser extent than Lammers, the Rangers boss needs to improve his front line this month if he is going to mount a title challenge.
Portuguese youngster Silva is a start but the club surely want another definitive number nine who can shoulder the scoring burden over the rest of the campaign.
Lawrence Shankland has widely been touted as the ideal solution but could be financially impossible to bring in from Hearts.
A Lammers loan exit should at least free up space on the wage bill, and FC Utrecth would give him a chance to feature in the Eredivisie again, where he was last prolific in front of goal with 16 league goals for Herenveen in the 2018/19 season.
In other Rangers news, a Premier League forward now wants to make a move to Ibrox.
