Mark Wilson tips Rangers to beat Celtic to January transfer move for Lawrence Shankland
Former Celtic defender Mark Wilson has tipped Rangers to beat his former side to the signing of Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland if they make a move in January.
Wilson suggested that while Celtic may be interested in the striker, his allegiances will lie elsewhere, as he is reportedly a boyhood Rangers fan.
He went on to insist that Shankland would suit the move to Ibrox as he is an out-and-out goalscorer, something Philippe Clement has been desperate for since he arrived in Glasgow.

Speaking to The National [8 January], Wilson shared: “I like Shankland, but I think his allegiances lie elsewhere.
“I’m not sure if he fits Celtic’s model, the way Brendan wants to play. I think he’d suit Rangers, a real goalscorer.”
Rangers must get this one done
When you lay everything on the table, there is no way Clement’s side should miss out on Shankland in this January transfer window. A chance to sign a boyhood Gers fan and the top scorer in the SPFL while they desperately need a striker should be a no-brainer.
The deal, of course, will have to suit their budget, and the money they pay to secure his signature will be dictated by Hearts who won’t be willing to let their star go easily, but the deal makes too much sense to ignore.
Shankland has been linked with a switch to Ibrox frequently over the years, and there was some suggestion that his ship may have sailed, but there is no smoke without fire and this is one Rangers must make sure they get done.

Following the arrival of Fabio Silva, Clement is still looking to add firepower to his squad after the disappointing summer transfer window left them without a consistent goalscorer, with Cyriel Dessers a routine disappointment while Danilo is always injured.
In other Rangers news, Chris Jack has provided a January exit update on Borna Barisic.
