Rangers transfer news: Dean Jones hails Million Manhoef development at Ibrox

Journalist Dean Jones says bringing in Million Manhoef from Vitesse Arnhem would be “a really savvy signing” for Rangers if they pull it off.

The Scottish Sun reported on 29 December that the Gers are leading the race for the highly rated 22-year-old, who is predominantly a winger.

English Championship sides Leicester City and Preston North End are also said to be in the hunt to sign Manhoef.

Giving his thoughts on the transfer link to GiveMeSport [7 January], Jones said: “It would be a really exciting signing. He is a tricky player. He is one that’s really difficult to track.

“He has very smart little movements and a result of those movements is actually that he picks up the ball in really nice positions in and around the box.

“It’d be a really savvy signing by Rangers, actually. And if they could pull it off, he’s the sort of player that will get fans off their seats.”

Attainable

Rangers were quick off the mark in terms of their January transfer business, having announced the signing of Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves prior to the window even opening on 1 January.

Since then, an array of players have been linked with a move to Ibrox, Manhoef among them. Philippe Clement has made no secret of his desire to recruit, so we can surely expect at least one more arrival.

Manhoef ticks plenty of boxes, not least the fact he plays on both wings and also as a centre-forward if required. The Dutchman has four goals in 15 Eredivisie outings this term, which is not a bad return in a struggling side.

A bid of £2.5million will supposedly be enough to land Manhoef [The Scottish Sun], which is certainly not out of the Gers’ price range if it is the right player coming in.

Given his ability to play in numerous positions, and the fact he makes things happen, Manhoef could prove to be perfect value for money.
