Rangers transfer news as Ridvan Yilmaz now on the way to new club in January

Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz is set to seal a January exit from Ibrox across the winter break in the Scottish Premiership, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky Sports journalist has reported that Hellas Verona are set to land the Turkish international, as they look to avoid relegation from the Serie A.

There are no details over the proposed move, with loan or permanent switches still on the table it seems as Philippe Clement gets ready to sanction an exit.

The Italian side is currently 17th but is set to be one of the busiest clubs in Italy this month with Edvin Kurtulus, Yilmaz and a future move for Elayis Tavsan all seemingly being readied.

Clement has made it no secret that he is looking for a new left-back, and this interesting move from Verona may open the door to Josh Doig once again.

Never worked out.

This is one of those moves that came with great promise but never really worked out for either club or player.

Yilmaz has enjoyed an erratic spell at Ibrox with some good games, but also a handful of ones to forget, never really nailing down a spot in the first team.

Clement, however, has been one manager who has used the Turkish international frequently, but that is mainly due to the injury picked up by Borna Barisic.

With European football returning to the spotlight soon, the defender not being registered has likely gone against him, with his future in the air for quite some time now.

Despite some positive glimpses though, no one can confidently say that Yilmaz was the future star to nail down that left-back spot, with new faces needed soon.

Kai Wagner, Doig and others have already been linked, so there should be some movement on that front very soon should Yilmaz depart quickly.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement wants to sign this African forward for the Light Blues.
