Rangers transfer news: Emmanuel Dennis update emerges after Nottingham Forest forward proposed to Ibrox club
Emmanuel Dennis is interested in a move to Rangers during the January window but the club have not yet followed up with an official approach, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Belgian journalist responded to a question via Twitter on 5 January to report that the Nottingham Forest forward has been “proposed” to the Light Blues but developments have yet to move past that.
Philippe Clement previously worked with the Nigerian international at Club Brugge and the manager is looking to further boost his attacking options after adding Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves.

Tavolieri wrote: “Emmanuel Dennis has been proposed to the club but there hasn’t been an official approach as of now. I can confirm the player’s interest for Rangers though.”
Reunion
The versatile 26-year-old is currently on loan in the Turkish Super Lig with Istanbul Basaksehir but has only made eight largely substitute appearances and has failed to find the net.
That record coupled with the fact that he has been out injured since the end of November might suggest he is not the man to help revive Clement’s attack right now.
But Dennis’ familiarity with the Rangers boss, and the fact that he is just 18-months removed from scoring 10 and assisting six more in the English Premier League with Watford could make him a high-value signing if the price is right.

If he is fit and Clement can be the man to get the best out of him then a temporary deal for the second half of the campaign might make a lot of sense.
But if there are questions marks over his form and fitness the Light Blues would need to be careful since they have been burned with high-profile January loan moves in recent memory, with the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Amad Diallo proving not to be fruitful acquisitions.
Rangers would appear to need a proven source of goals who can play as a central striker with Cyriel Dessers the only clear option currently available, although top candidate Lawrence Shankland looks like he might be out of reach.
A fit and firing Dennis looks like a no-brainer to work with Clement again but if he is on loan in Turkey for a reason rather than performing at Forest right now it might not be the right time.
In other Rangers news, a first-team attacker could leave Ibrox this month according to Sky Sports amid “urgency” to secure another signing.
