Rangers must find permanent January transfer for Ibrox ‘joke’ Sam Lammers, loan exit not enough
With the January transfer and winter break now in full flow, Rangers supporters’ attention has turned to the potential arrivals at Ibrox over the next month.
A new striker is top of almost every single Gers fan’s shopping list and it feels almost certain that Philippe Clement will add to his forward line given the struggles of the likes of Cyriel Dessers, Kemar Roofe and Danilo so far this season.
However, with new arrivals expected, players already in Glasgow will have to make way and one man that has been heavily linked with the Ibrox exit door is summer signing Sam Lammers.

Chris Jack suggested on Thursday (4 January) that the Dutchman is likely to depart Scotland on an initial loan with an option to buy deal, should any teams show interest in his services before the end of the January transfer window [Rangers Review].
Lammers has been incredibly poor during his brief time in the Scottish Premiership and in 31 appearances for Rangers so far this season, he has only managed to score two goals and registered a miserable two assists.
His dreadful performances have seen him wildly criticised by both pundits and supporters and when he was substituted after 58 minutes during the Gers’ Europa League draw with Aris Limassol, his withdrawal was welcomed by cheers from the fans inside Ibrox.
Kevin Kyle admitted he had been underwhelmed by the 26-year-old’s performances since arriving north of the border, having initially been excited to see him make the move from Italy.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (5 December) he said: “He must be unbelievable in training. I saw a highlights reel of Lammers before his Rangers days and the highlights were a joke, but if you stick anybody’s highlights reel together they can be a joke.”
Unfortunately, for both him and Rangers supporters, Lammers’ time in Scotland so far has been nothing short of a joke and the Light Blues must find a way to get rid of him during the January transfer window.
There has been little in his performances this season to suggest a loan will help him rediscover his form and the Light Blues would be better off finding a permanent suitor to take the dud off of their hands.
Otherwise, they will just face the same problem again come the end of the season. Should he perform how he has done at Ibrox this season during his loan spell, no team in their right mind would even consider making his stay permanent.
