Rangers: Pundit facepalms as Daily Record share Willie Collum development at Ibrox

Tam McManus has expressed his annoyance as Rangers have asked the SFA to keep Willie Collum away from their matches after the Celtic clash.

Gers ended up losing the Old Firm derby 2-1 on 30 December and Collum has come under scrutiny as he failed to penalise Alistair Johnston for a handball in the box, although a still image was shown that Abdallah Sima was offside.

The Daily Record then revealed Rangers’ request to keep Collum away from officiating their games, something which hasn’t sat well with McManus.

“Christ almighty,” he wrote on Twitter, reacting with a facepalm.

Justified

McManus’ reaction seems to overlook the legitimate concerns raised by Rangers regarding the controversial officiating in the Celtic clash.

Gers have a right to demand transparency and accountability, especially when their appeal for a penalty was denied under questionable circumstances.

The revelation that there was no mention of offside in the VAR audio adds weight to their claim of a pretty atrocious decision.

Rangers

Rangers, as a club, have every right to protect their interests and question the integrity of the officiating process.

If there’s evidence of potential bias or negligence, seeking Collum’s exclusion from future matches is a logical step to ensure fair competition.

This isn’t merely about a single decision but about upholding the standards of refereeing and maintaining the trust of fans in the game’s integrity.

Whether or not this is taken into consideration, remains to be seen, but this is clearly not a good look for the officials.

In other Rangers news, a sensation at a big-name Premier League club is the perfect long-term defensive option for Gers and a January transfer must be on the cards.
