BBC journalist Tom English issues Celtic admission post Derek McInnes Rangers penalty dig

Tom English has issued a comparison between the penalties given for and against Rangers and Celtic after Derek McInnes’ comments.

The Kilmarnock manager pointed out that he was surprised his side got a penalty at Ibrox, insinuating that it does not happen that often and penalties tend to go in favour of Gers.

However, the BBC journalist took to Twitter to address those claims showing the same number of penalties (9) given to both Old Firm sides with Celtic having none given against them.

He wrote, “League penalties received this season
Rangers 9
Celtic 9

“League penalties conceded
Rangers 1
Celtic 0

“The unconscious bias must be having a break this season.”

Spot on

McInnes is just salty that his side were awful on the day and deserved the loss regardless of how the penalty decision went.

It was dubious, to say the least, but Gers were not settling for anything less than the three points in what was a dominating performance.

At 2-1, there’s always a scare, especially with the momentum swinging towards the side that’s just found the back of the net.

Clement Rangers

However, Philippe Clement ensured that his side did not take their eyes off the prize and deservedly went into the break on a winning note.

There’s still an eight-point gap with Celtic but the two games in hand are valuable and he’ll undoubtedly have the points than future fixtures to play.

Hopefully, Gers make two or three signings during the break and get enough time to adapt to Clement’s style of play.

In other Rangers news, a sensation at a big-name Premier League club is the perfect long-term defensive option for Gers and a January transfer must be on the cards.
