Kris Boyd rages over fresh Rangers controversy despite what Celtic fans claim – ‘It stinks’
It’s going to lead to a “heap of trouble” if the SFA deny Rangers from hearing the audio from the incident that saw them denied a penalty against Celtic on Saturday (30 December), according to Kris Boyd.
Writing on The Scottish Sun website on Monday (1 January), the pundit said the right decision was made to not award the Gers a spot kick in their 2-1 Old Firm defeat, but he believes the explanation about the incident from the SFA “stinks”.
While he suggested the Hoops fans will claim it’s “typical Rangers” to complain about the issue, he added that there is a “bigger picture” at hand that could benefit all of the SPFL clubs.

“If the powers-that-be keep schtum on the decision-making process during Saturday’s Old Firm clash, then it’s only going to lead to a whole heap of trouble,” said Boyd.
“Let’s get it right, Abdallah Sima was offside in the build-up to the Alistair Johnston handball incident at Celtic Park. The correct decision was reached. But the way they got there, and the clear-as-mud explanation, is the issue — because it stinks.
“Celtic supporters, and fans of other clubs, will no doubt just claim it’s typical Rangers because that’s what they always do. But there is a bigger picture here that’s for the benefit of all clubs. It’s Gers this week. But it could be St Mirren, Aberdeen, Hibs or Hearts somewhere down the line.”
Just release it
The SFA could just save everyone’s time and release the audio from the incident as it will clear up what went on and stop some of the noise around the situation.
But if they don’t let Rangers hear what happened, then that will only fuel the arguments and make people believe that they are trying to cover something up.
There is no doubt that Abdallah Sima was offside and the Gers were right not to have been awarded a penalty, but how that decision was reached is important.

If VAR decided that the handball by Alastair Johnston wasn’t enough to award a penalty, then that would be absolutely ridiculous and could cause uproar.
It will be interesting to see how this situation pans out because it doesn’t appear as though the Light Blues are going to back down over the issue before they get what they want.
In other Rangers news, one player is surely finished at Ibrox after a signing has already been confirmed.
