Kemar Roofe finished at Rangers as terms agreed for new Ibrox transfer
Kemar Roofe must surely be finished at Rangers after a deal to sign Fabio Silva has already been agreed at Ibrox.
The Gers confirmed on Thursday (28 December) that the 21-year-old Portuguese forward is set to join the club from Wolves until the end of the season.
That leaves the 30-year-old in a precarious position heading into the transfer window after he has already become a bit-part player under Philippe Clement.
The Englishman has featured just five times since the new Light Blues boss arrived at the club in October, having struggled for fitness and to make an impression when he has been given opportunities.
He is currently sidelined with yet another injury after playing just 16 minutes in the 2-0 victory over St Johnstone on 20 December, suggesting he can’t be relied upon moving forward.
Having missed almost the entirety of last season with a knee problem, he has scored just two goals in 15 appearances during this campaign.
Although he’s never really had a proper chance to get up to full speed, those figures simply aren’t good enough for a striker looking to show he still has what it takes to play for a club like Rangers.
The arrival of Silva should be a concern for Roofe as he is nine years older than his new teammate and there are no signs that he will be back out on the pitch any time soon.
That will give the Portuguese an opportunity to get his feet under the table as he looks to challenge Cyriel Dessers for a starting spot, with summer signing Danilo sidelined for the next few months.

Silva arrives on loan from Wolves after failing to earn regular minutes in the side this season, having scored one goal in 10 appearances in all competitions.
Since signing for the Premier League club for a whopping £35million from Porto in 2020, he hasn’t quite cut it at Molineux, registering just five goals and six assists in 72 matches.
But after finding the back of the net 16 times on loan at Anderlecht and PSV last season, he will be confident that he can make an impact in Glasgow.
The Gers are crying out for a striker they can rely on to play regular minutes and score them the goals that will keep them in the SPFL title race on the back of the 2-1 defeat to Celtic on Saturday (30 December).
With Silva coming in hungry to prove he can be that man, it’s hard to imagine that Roofe’s time at Ibrox isn’t coming to an end after he’s had a miserable past 18 months.
