Celtic captain Callum McGregor spotted making behind-the-scenes Rangers jibe after Old Firm showdown
Callum McGregor was spotted making a behind-the-scenes jibe at Rangers following their game against Celtic on Saturday (30 December).
A video has surfaced of the Hoops captain speaking to fans in a Parkhead corporate hospitality suite after the match (via the Daily Record), where he said the Gers “hadn’t played anyone” before their 2-1 defeat in the Old Firm.
He added that the Light Blues “don’t deal with the intensity” of the matches as he believes they “start to unravel” once they’re put under pressure and made to play the ball long up the pitch.

“The boys were outstanding,” said McGregor. “We spoke before the game about bringing that intensity. We feel like when we play against them they don’t deal with the intensity. If you get after them and press them and make them kick out the pitch then very quickly they will start to unravel.
“They’d been in a good spell but they hadn’t played anyone yet. We had some critics to answer over the last couple of weeks. All I can ask of the boys is that they go out there and give everything and they did that with bits of quality – Kyogo and Paulo Bernardo’s goals top class – but in terms of the running and work ethic of the team was first-class.
“You accept that pressure when you play for Celtic. Every season you have to win, keep reinventing yourself and give everything for the club. That’s always my main aim when I cross that white line is to give absolutely everything for the supporters because they would love to be in my position.”
Inaccurate
It certainly isn’t true that Rangers haven’t played anyone since Philippe Clement joined the club after they secured their place in the knockout rounds of the Europa League following their victory over an in-form Real Betis team.
They then went on to win the Viaplay Cup final against Aberdeen, who granted aren’t having a great season, but securing a trophy is never something to be sniffed at.
The fact of the matter is, though, that it was Celtic that came out on top, giving McGregor the license to say what he wants as it’s his side that stole the bragging rights.

The Gers perhaps didn’t deal with the occasion well enough for large portions of the game as they allowed their Glasgow rivals to take a 2-0 lead.
Clement will be looking for his team to learn from their mistakes so they are ready for the next time the two sides go head to head as there won’t be any margin for error when that game comes around.
