Rangers on red alert for another new transfer as contract update emerges
Rangers are on red alert for another new transfer after Philadelphia Union manager Jim Curtin set Kai Wagner a deadline to agree a new contract, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper reported on its website on Friday (29 December) that the 26-year-old is one of a number of potential players that the Ibrox clubs have identified who could potentially solve the Light Blues’ problems at left-back.
Curtin had confirmed Wagner had been offered a deal to extend his stay at the MLS club, but if that deadline has been allowed to pass Rangers may well be able to act on their interest and sign the defender.

Philippe Clement will be keen to secure the 26-year-old’s future and fend off interest from several other European clubs, with the likes of Marseille and several Bundesliga teams monitoring the fullback’s situation.
Get it done
Rangers are short of quality at left-back and with Borna Barisic’s future up in the air ahead of the January transfer window, the Gers cannot afford to leave Clement with only Ridvan Yilmaz as an option on the left flank of defence.
The Turkish fullback has failed to live up to his price tag since he arrived at Ibrox and while he is capable of putting in impressive performances when required, he isn’t good enough to start week in and week out if Ran gers want to lift the Premiership title.

Wagner may not have a huge amount of experience outside of the MLS, but he has been one of the American division’s brightest talents and on a free transfer, it would certainly be worth Rangers taking the gamble to bring him to Glasgow when the transfer window opens.
The Light Blues have already got their January transfer business up and running early in the season with the loan addition of Fabio Silva, but that looks like it will only be the start. There could be plenty of change on the horizon once again at Ibrox.
