Billy Dodds slams Cyriel Dessers live on BBC after what he did in Rangers defeat v Celtic
Billy Dodds has slammed Cyriel Dessers for his wasted opportunity when through on goal for Rangers at Celtic Park as he failed to test Joe Hart.
Dessers was presented with one of the best chances you’ll ever see in a game like this as he was faced one-on-one with Hart, but he stuttered and was unable to get the shot off, wasting the opportunity.
Dodds fumed at the missed chance, questioning how long Dessers wanted to take before pulling the trigger and insisting he must make decisions much quicker for Rangers.

Speaking live on BBC Sportsound as shared by the BBC Sport live blog [30 December], Dodds ranted: “How long do you want, son? He actually slows down. He’s got to show more drive and speed.
“Serious let off for Celtic. Dessers has got to do things much more quickly.”
Dessers has to step up
Since his arrival in the summer, Dessers has been thoroughly disappointing at Ibrox. His consistent failure to provide Rangers with a goalscoring threat at the spearhead of the team has been a source of frustration at the best of times, but after this miss, it doesn’t look like things will improve.
Just as he had appeared to find some form under the guidance of Philippe Clement, the Nigerian has once again shown why it must be a priority for Rangers to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.

The arrival of Wolves striker Fabio Silva on loan will go part of the way towards providing a source of goals for the team, but more reinforcements are needed amid an injury crisis, with none of Dessers, Danilo or Kemar Roofe able to be trusted for different reasons.
Dessers will need to step up if he wants his long-term future to remain at Ibrox because so far he has simply not been good enough, and such a big miss from a key opportunity at Celtic Park will not be easily forgiven.
In other Rangers news, a star player could now be ruled out for five games.
