Rangers pay five-figure fee for Fabio Silva as active push for another new transfer underway
Rangers put themselves in the box seat for the addition of Fabio Silva after paying a five-figure sum towards his weekly wage, according to the Daily Record.
The Scottish news outlet shared on 28 December that both Rangers and Celtic had been offered the chance to sign the Wolves striker, but the substantial payment took him to Ibrox.
Rangers are already actively pursuing a left-back for transfer number two ahead of the window, and have scouted PSV Eindhoven defender Fredrik Oppegard.

Intentions clear
It’s a rare sight to see Rangers complete a winter signing a few days before the window officially opens and fans should certainly be excited about Philippe Clement’s intentions to strengthen his squad.
With the Light Blues sitting five points off Celtic with a game in hand and undergoing something of an injury crisis right now, it’s only right the Belgian gets things going in the January transfer market.
The signing of Silva has been signed and sealed already which certainly signifies the Belgian’s desperation for brand new additions but the latest developments indicate there will be more and there should be.

Numbers are short in midfield after several injuries, while the centre-back and left-back positions need addressing with more quality and youth too.
If Rangers can properly rebuild the squad again in January then there is no better chance for them to topple Celtic than this current campaign.
Under a manager who takes no nonsense in Clement, and considering his huge impact made already, he may just be the man to do it.
In other Rangers news, Sky Sports shared what wowed Fabio Silva when he visited Auchenhowie before his confirmed Ibrox transfer.
